Discover Cornwall this February Half Term

Are the memories of your last holiday more than a little distant? Does your Christmas break feel like an awfully long time ago? Banish those holiday blues and treat yourself with a break away this February half term with a stay at our North Cornwall holiday park!

feet in front of fireWhy choose a break away this February?

It often gets a tough rap but February is actually a great time of year to visit Cornwall. You may have to put on an extra layer and wrap up warm but you can still get out there and enjoy all that Cornwall has to offer.

The great thing about visiting Cornwall in February half term is that, unlike some other school holiday periods, it is much quieter. So, you can avoid the traffic congestion, jump straight to the front of the queue at the local attractions and, of course, avoid the wait for a pasty at lunchtime!

Cornwall is very much a year-round destination with attractions such as the Eden Project, Newquay Zoo and Flambards Theme Park open 12 months of the year.

It also means that you can visit those picture postcard destinations at your leisure – without having to fight quite so hard for a parking space! Hengar Manor is perfectly located for you to explore North Cornwall in all its glory; we’re close to the popular destinations of Padstow, Port Isaac, Newquay and Tintagel.

See and do more this February half term in Cornwall!

Nothing quite beats a bracing walk on the cliff tops or a stroll along a deserted beach on a winter’s day to blow the cobwebs away. And, at our park, you’re just a short distance from some of Cornwall’s best beaches including Constantine, Harlyn Sands, Fistral Beach and Polzeath.

What else is there to see and do? Check out a few of our favourite events this February.

  • Ice-skating at Eden Project: Head over to Eden until February 24th and have a whirl in their winter wonderland. Everyone is welcome, from complete novices to figure skating pros. If spectating is more your thing, you can snuggle up rink-side with a delicious hot chocolate or a tasty burger while you cheer on your family and friends.
  • Hurling at St Columb Major: The traditional St Columb hurling takes place on Shrove Tuesday and the second Saturday following. The usually rough game is played on the streets and in the surrounding countryside, between the Townsmen and Countrymen of the parish. It really is a sight to behold, but not one for the faint hearted!
  • Snowdrop Sunday at Pencarrow House: Held on the 10th and 17th of February, head over to Pencarrow House near Bodmin and see the spectacle of thousands of snowdrops in bloom. The Peacock Cafe will be open for refreshments and dogs are welcome in the gardens.
  • Winter walks at Lanhydrock Estate: Head over to nearby Lanhydrock House and Gardens and enjoy a guided walk around this beautiful National Trust estate and garden.
