Holiday guides: Let’s visit… Truro

Cornwall is home to many picturesque towns and villages – but it only has one city. But, lucky for us, it is rather special…

Located in mid-Cornwall, Truro is a beautiful cathedral city and is the administrative heartbeat of the county, with council HQ and the county’s main hospital based here.

But it’s much more than just a hub for business and industry. We think it is one of the most beautiful cities in the country – and its certainly well worth you spending a few hours of your time (or longer) here during your stay at our North Cornwall holiday park.

Why visit Truro

This vibrant city certainly seems to be where it’s at. It is alive with cafes, bars, restaurants as well as independent shops and big-name high-street brands. So, if you like nothing more than hitting the shops and exercising your credit card then this the place to go… From Primark, M&S, Debenhams and Topshop to more unique brands, Truro really is a shopper’s paradise.

However, there is much more to the UK’s most southerly city than just its shopping experience. Here’s some of our favourite things to do in Truro…

  • Visit The Royal Cornwall Museum and take a step back into Cornwall’s history from prehistoric times through to its industrial triumphs. Cornwall has a rich maritime and mining heritage and the museum shines a light on this county’s eventful past. The museum runs events for families throughout the year. Admission charges apply – children free.
  • Head over to Lemon Street Market, which is where you’ll find some of the most exciting and innovative small businesses. It is also home to the Atrium Gallery hosting a great selection of Cornish art – and it’s also a great place to have lunch or a drink at the café.
  • We can talk about Truro without mentioning Truro’s magnificent Cathedral, which illustrates the city’s prosperity in the 19th century. Copying the great cathedral builders of the medieval age, its huge spires soar over the city skyline, and inside there are some of the finest examples of Victorian stained glass in the UK

So, book yourself a Cornwall lodge holiday at Hengar Manor and explore the delights of this beautiful city at your leisure…
